Triple butted tubes are the hallmark of a high end aluminum frame construction, and allow for maximum stiffness at a minimum weight. A triple butted tube has three different thicknesses along the tube length, allowing you to focus material where you need it and remove it where you don't.

Along with BB86, this Shimano BB92 Bottom Bracket is part of the new press fit standard. Typical mountain bike has a 68 or 73mm bottom bracket shell width, a BB92 equipped bike has a shell that measures 91.5mm wide and has a 41mm inside diameter.
